Discover the many exciting benefits of getting dentures to restore your smile.
While tooth loss isn’t something that anyone wants to think about, for many Americans it’s a real problem. If you are missing most or all of your teeth, you may feel like it’s too complicated or stressful to get your smile back. But it doesn’t have to be the case. Your Easton dentists Dr. Randall Hiers, Dr. Ara Stanton and Dr. Christopher Morrow can give you a full smile again with dentures.
What are dentures?
Dentures are just one way to replace natural teeth. These removable prosthetics are made from acrylic, plastic, and resin and contain a gum-like base that holds a set of artificial teeth. There are two types of dentures: full and partial. Full dentures are used to replace all of your missing teeth while partial dentures are used for patients who still have some healthy natural teeth.
How do I go about getting dentures?
Since dentures are made to fit your mouth, we will need to take impressions of your smile before you can get your dentures. Sometimes other procedures like a tooth extraction will need to be performed beforehand. The impressions that we take of your mouth will help create dentures that offer a precise and unique fit.
Once your dentures are fabricated (which can take up to a week or more to complete), we will have you come back in so your Easton dentist can make any necessary adjustments and to check how your dentures fit. Once you have been fitted with your dentures you can start wearing them right away.
What are the benefits of getting dentures?
Dentures offer an inexpensive and simple way to regain a full smile again. While they may not offer as many health benefits as other tooth replacement options like dental implants, dentures can be a great way for those with poor oral health to still get their smiles back.
While it may take some time to adjust to dentures, over time patients will find it easier and easier to speak and chew with them in. Of course, you will find that these habits will be far easier with dentures than they ever were without teeth. Being able to speak and eat comfortably will be one valuable asset of getting dentures.
